Hard to be Soft - A Belfast Prayer and Oona Doherty's new creation Lady Magma will be performed at the 20th Biennale de la danse in Val-de-Marn and in Paris.
Oona Doherty left London for Belfast at the age of ten. There, she discovered a city rife with unemployment and imbued with religion. Today, the chorographer draws on her history and encounters in order to embody the physical states of bodies marked by the social realities of her beloved city. Transfigured by spiritual combat or appropriating virile attitudes, she delivers that it’s “hard to be soft”. The part entitled Sugar Army will be performed by young female dancers from Ile-de-France who will work with the choreographer in February and March.
