Windrush: Movement of the People is the first contemporary dance work to explore the story of the arrival of the SS Empire Windrush — the ship that brought the first of the postwar Caribbean migrants to the UK.
Phoenix Dance Theatre brings alive the stories of the people on board, known as the Windrush generation, who would radically change the cultural make-up of the UK.
The work is a lively celebration of the rise of multicultural Britain and features an uplifting soundtrack of calypso, jazz, gospel and reggae with original music by Christella Litras.
It will be available to watch online on the British Council Theatre and Dance website and the British Council Arts Facebook page from 12 midday (BST) on Saturday 22 June. Audiences can watch it on demand until 22 July.
This stream celebrates #WindrushDay on 22 June. It's also part of #AnyoneAnywhere, the British Council's global season celebrating the 30th anniversary of the web.
