free online masterclass

This free online masterclass will explore a range of listening activities that are designed to encourage students to pay careful attention to their classmates and thus develop the kind of active listening skills that promote independence and autonomy beyond the classroom. After all, students only learn from each other if they listen to each other and the teacher therefore has an important role to play in promoting peer learning.

Whether you're teaching English in a school, a language school or a higher-education institution, the session will leave you with lots of practical ideas for promoting real communication within the classroom.

The masterclass will be led by Laura McWilliams who is the Academic Manager in charge of our secondary-age courses. She has extensive experience as a teacher, a manager and a teacher training and will soon be heading off to head our young-learner courses in the Middle East. Laura is also a co-ordinator for the prestigious IATEFL Young Learners Special Interest Group.

The session is part of a series of Teaching Masterclasses. To learn more about our teacher-training programmes and future events you can sign up to our Teacher Training Newsletter.
