Following the success of last year’s competition and the large number of creative entries we received, our bookmark design competition is back with a new theme: “Step Inside the Story.”
This year, we are inviting children to imagine themselves at the heart of their favourite story. What would happen if they could join the characters in a book, explore a fantasy world, or go on an adventure alongside their favourite hero? On one side of the bookmark, participants should illustrate their idea with a drawing. On the other side, they should write a few words describing their creation.
The competition is open to all students, from Early Years to Secondary, and there are plenty of fantastic prizes to be won, including printed copies of their bookmark, a certificate, a free holiday course, and an invitation to our winners’ ceremony in June 2027.
The competition will launch on Saturday 7 November 2026 and entries must be submitted by Saturday 5 December 2026 to: yl-english-extra@britishcouncil.fr
Please include the following information:
- Child’s full name
- Age / French school year
- British Council student number
- Bookmark title
Templates can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. Only entries submitted using the correct age-group template will be accepted.
For younger children, parents may provide limited support with drawing or writing. However, the work must be mostly the child’s own. Similarly, artwork generated using artificial intelligence will not be accepted. The judging panel reserves the right to exclude any entry that does not appear to be the work of a child of the stated age.
