Over 9 days, This is England celebrates the richness, diversity, and vitality of British and Irish cinema with a competition of 60 British and Irish short films encompassing all genres: comedy, drama, period films, science fiction, thrillers, crime films, documentaries, animation, and more. The program includes screenings, discussions with directors and actors, masterclasses, and workshops exploring short films in all their forms.
The school component of the event, called SCHOOL TIE, offers an annual selection of short films specifically tailored to three age groups. Each film is accompanied by a toolkit developed by the festival team to assist teachers in using the films in the classroom.
