A collection of rights free short and feature films available now !
The British Council’s Touring Film Programmes offer collections of rights free short and feature films, many of them award nominees and winners, that explore different themes or target specific audiences. The programmes are curated by UK industry organisations and largely showcase UK film talent.
All programmes are free to use, provided the use is cultural only – this means that there should not be a charge for admission.
Touring film programmes are available for regular festival or film screenings event. You can screen single films, a selection of films, and mix films from different programmes, but please note that the rights we have are all for British Council credited screenings.
Most of the programmes have French subtitled versions available. Check the list of our film programmes available below.

We will provide you with the details of each selection, links to preview the films and a pre-booking form. Your booking need to be made 4 weeks before your event to be approved by our Film team in the UK.

BAFTA 2025
The nominated and winning Best British Short and Short Animation films from this year’s British Academy of Film and Television Awards. Eight short films with a total running time of 114 minutes showcasing the best of UK short film talent. This programme is refreshed every summer with the next cohort of nominees.

A collection of galvanizing and rich short films, together with three standout feature films, all by women filmmakers, curated by Reclaim the Frame - an organisation focused on gender justice and particularly championing the voices of marginalised women and non-binary people. More Films for Freedom
Building on the success of Five Films for Freedom, our annual online LGBTQIA+ film celebration which takes place in March every year, More Films is a growing collection of films which is added to each year with new commissions. The collection currently contains ten films, produced in partnership with the British Film Institute, and made by UK producers in collaboration with Palestinian, South African, Syrian, Nigerian, Libyan, Kenyan, Brazilian and French/Lebanese filmmakers. Defiant Documentaries
In partnership with The Grierson Trust, this selection of seven handpicked feature length documentaries explores UK subjects ranging from the environment, celebrity, royal heritage, disability and cast of true British eccentrics. British Council Film Archive Collection
Short documentary films, commissioned by the British Council in the 1940's, and designed to show the rest of the world how Britain lived, worked and played during wartime and immediate post-war Britain. There is a highlights programme available – but any films can be screened from over 100 available in the collection. Explore the collection. English versions only.
