The “Compte personnel de formation” (i.e., ‘personal training account’) was created in order to provide training opportunities throughout an employee’s professional life in France, encouraging everyone to undertake training or study throughout their working life until retirement age.

The CPF is made available to employees working in the private sector, jobseekers, and youth who are entering the world of work (at 15 or 16 years old).

CPF rights are generally available to people who are working or have acquired training rights through previous employment in France.

Your eligibility and available funding depend on your individual situation. You can check your current rights directly through Mon Compte Formation.

The amount available depends on your employment history and individual circumstances.

Log in to Mon Compte Formation to see your current CPF balance and the amount you can use towards an eligible English course.

Your available CPF balance can be used towards the cost of an eligible course.

If your CPF balance does not cover the full cost, you may need to pay the remaining amount yourself or explore whether additional funding is available through your employer or another organisation.

To be eligible for CPF funding, a language course must meet the applicable CPF requirements and lead to an approved certification.

Our eligible English courses include the TOEIC 4 Skills certification, which assesses listening, reading, speaking and writing.

If you complete your training outside working hours, you generally do not need your employer's permission.

If the training takes place during your normal working hours, different rules may apply and you may need to obtain your employer's agreement.

If you are registered as a jobseeker and have CPF rights available, you may be able to use them towards eligible training.

Depending on your situation, France Travail may also be able to provide additional funding.
