Bannière Talks in English
Date
Thursday 18 September 2025 - 19.00
Location
British Council

We are delighted to be hosting Taha Siddiqui, a Pakistani investigative journalist, living in exile in Paris since 2018.  This talk will be in interview format and we'll talk about his graphic memoir, The Dissident Club, published in English this year in May.

With attacks against freedom of press rising globally, we will also speak to Mr. Siddiqui about press freedoms, specifically in Pakistan, and in general, why many journalists are leaving their countries of origin, and also, does exile mean complete safety?

Siddiqui will also get into the back-story of how he ended up using comic books as a means for his autobiography, and tell us more about his other project which the book takes its name from : The Dissident Club, a socio-cultural bar in the heart of Paris, that he has been running for 5 years.

There will also be an opportunity to buy a signed copy of The Dissident Club.
