In November 2025, the British Council and France Education international held an international workshop on:

Maximising learning outcomes in relation to CLIL in primary and secondary education.

The event took place in the premises of France Éducation international in Sèvres, France. It brought together 120 select participants, including representatives of 13 countries and key organisations from across Europe, such as the French Ministry of Education, the OECD, the Council of Europe and UNESCO.

The workshop included the launch of the British Council’s report on CLIL in primary education in France, as well as a bibliography by France Éducation international on the topic. Roundtable discussions explored how CLIL is applied in various educational contexts.

Participants also took part in a series of interactive, hands-on sessions focusing on different aspects of CLIL policy and practice. Our aim was to harness the collective expertise of our diverse group — including teachers, teacher educators, policymakers, and researchers — to generate concrete advice and suggestions. We will be publishing these outcomes, along with recordings of some of the sessions, blogs reflecting on the event and interviews with some of the participants on this webpage in the weeks and months to come.

You will find below the first elements to have been published. We hope you find them thought provoking.
